Originally trained as a medical doctor, Bilal left emergency medicine to build an interdisciplinary portfolio career spanning strategy, organisational growth, media, humanitarian work, technology and the creative industries. He is particularly valued for helping people and organisations make sense of complex ideas, clarifying the deeper issues and transforming it into a distinctive strategy, venture, campaign or public narrative.

Through The Muslim Agency, he advises charities, philanthropists, founders, governments and global organisations on strategy, business development, cultural insight, communications and meaningful engagement with Muslim audiences. More recently, he has been instrumental in helping leaders and organisations navigate AI transformation through practical AI training, workflow redesign and intelligent automation. His work enables teams to move beyond occasional experimentation with AI towards thoughtful, responsible and organisation-wide adoption.

His career has included senior roles across international philanthropy and broadcasting, as well as work involving leadership development, global convenings, influencer partnerships and major public campaigns. He has helped deliver initiatives ranging from globally trending social campaigns and international philanthropic programmes to a world-record-breaking global blood-donation campaign.

Bilal is also the founder and Creative Director of Muslimplicity, a contemporary Islamic art studio exploring the meeting point of sacred tradition, visual culture and emerging technology. His wider creative practice encompasses writing, film, design, storytelling and AI-assisted creative tools. His work explores how faith, imagination and strategic thinking can produce things that are both useful and beautiful.

His writing and commentary have appeared in The Guardian, British GQ, The Independent, Newsweek, Metro and Al Jazeera, and he has contributed to BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought.

Born and raised in Leicester, Bilal worked for several years in London and now lives in Cape Town, consulting internationally.
